UCF Quality Initiative

Earning a Quality or High-Quality designation for your online or blended/mixed mode course is a powerful way to demonstrate your commitment to best practices in student-centered digital teaching and learning.

Benefits of Quality or High-Quality Designation

Why earn a designation? Because engaging in a course review demonstrates that you are continuously improving the learning experience for your students!

If your online or blended course is designated as Quality (Q) or High Quality (HQ), you will receive:

Designations are valid for up to five years from the date of the initial designation. Substantial revisions to a designated course may necessitate re-designation. Courses with Quality designations may request re-review for High-Quality at anytime.

Process and Eligibility

The Instructional Design team offers course quality consultation and review for eligible instructors teaching in a variety of online modalities. These reviews apply evidence-based criteria to assess how well the course aligns with best practices in digital teaching and learning.

Trained quality reviewers will use the Quality Rubric to review the course and provide feedback as applicable.

If adjustments are needed to earn a designation, your instructional designer will work with you on these revisions.

Eligibility for Review and Designation

  • Completion of IDL6543 or equivalent online teaching credential.
  • Teaching M, W, R, or S sections of a course.
