Webcourses@UCF Fundamentals

Webcourses@UCF Fundamentals is self-paced, just-in-time online training course for anyone who wishes to learn the tools and functionality of the university’s learning management system (LMS), Canvas by Instructure. This professional development course will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to set up the basics of a course in Webcourses@UCF.

The time commitment for completing Webcourses@UCF Fundamentals is estimated to be 2-3 hours or less. The course is self-paced, online, and not facilitated.

This training is a prerequisite to digital teaching and design credential programs IDL6543 and ADL5000.

Program Objectives

1. Identify the appropriate Webcourses@UCF tools, settings, and workflows needed to set up, communicate in, grade, and launch a course.
2. Select actions and tools that align with UCF requirements for course visibility, grading, accessibility, and end‑of‑term processes.

Why should I take Webcourses@UCF Fundamentals?

This program is intended for all faculty and staff who utilize Webcourses@UCF to teach or deliver course content, including P, M, R, S, and W modalities.  It covers basic functionality as well as UCF-specific topics such as Simple Syllabus and Financial Aid requirement activities. This program can also be useful to refresh your LMS skills.

Faculty who complete Webcourses@UCF Fundamentals will receive a digital badge and printable certificate.

Who can take Webcourses@UCF Fundamentals?

Any UCF faculty, staff, or teaching assistant can enroll in this course at any time.
