Dr. Beth Nettles leads the Instructional Development (iDev) and CDL Graphics teams at the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL). As a member of the Instructional Development team, she has created a number of professional development resources designed specifically for faculty teaching online courses including the Developing Learning Objectives and Copyright in Online Courses modules used in the ADL5000 and Teaching with Lecture Capture (TLC) courses. Dr. Nettles has also provided project management services for several university-wide initiatives such as UCF’s most recent learning management system migration (from Blackboard to Canvas), the Knights Online orientation to online learning, and the tactical implementation of UCF Online.

Beth has over fifteen years of experience teaching programming, software applications, and web technologies in post-secondary education. Beth Nettles holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology in Education from the University of Nevada, Reno; an MA in Instructional Technology and a BS in Business Administration from UCF.

Betsy Walton began working at the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL), formerly Course Development & Web Services in 1998. She was one of the first Graphic Designers to join a mainly technical group that started the online learning programs at UCF. She has grown the team to the level that you see today, a diverse, professional group of designers.

Before coming to UCF, Betsy worked for many years in the advertising department for a major store chain creating the weekly newspaper and magazine ads.

Betsy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and a Master of Fine Arts in Art and the Computer. Both degrees are from UCF.

Betsy’s photography has been shown at many venues and studios such as the Orlando Museum of Art, the Orlando Mayor’s office, the Center for Fine Art Photography in Denver and the Denver Airport. She was awarded a GURU award from Photoshop World for photo retouching. Her photography has also been published in Magazines such as Camera Arts, Photoshop User, and Clean Run.

Her interests include competitive dog agility, where she has trained and showed several of her dogs. They have received many titles and trophies. She has received many kisses, tail wags, & wiggle butts (from the aussies).


Kyler Wilson

Kyler joined the CDL team in the spring of 2012 as a Web Designer.  He brings over 15 years of Graphic Design experience and holds a B.S. in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design.

Kyler is originally from Kentucky and moved to the Orlando area to begin working for The Walt Disney Company as a Special Events Associate and Artist in 2000.  He then began work with The Lapel Pin & Button Company as a Creative Director and Sales Associate in 2004.

Kyler is a sports enthusiast. He enjoys playing flag-football and has run in multiple marathons and half-marathons around the county.

Joe is a native New Englander, so naturally he is a huge fan of the Red Sox and Bruins. He graduated with a B.A. In Graphic Design from the University of Massachusetts and has been a professional graphic designer for over twenty years. He also is a fully trained illustrator having attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning. In his spare time he creates and publishes his own comic book.
