B.E.A.M. at UCF: Belonging, Engaging, Achieving, and Meaning

UCF is focused on unleashing the potential of people and ideas to positively impact the world. By transforming aspirations into achievements and empowering students to thrive, students are supported to succeed in all aspects of learning, both inside and outside the classroom.

The B.E.A.M. model brings that work into focus. Grounded in research, it outlines four interconnected domains that define what thriving looks like at UCF:

  • Belonging: Feeling connected, accepted, and valued within a group or community
  • Engaging: Actively participating in learning and activities of interest
  • Achieving: Planning and striving to accomplish goals
  • Meaning: Identifying values and interests that lead to purpose, significance, and fulfillment

For students: Use B.E.A.M. to reflect on your experience and set goals in each domain.

For instructors: Consider how your course design, feedback, and co‑curricular connections can foster belonging, engagement, achievement, and meaning.
