For instance, what are the components of a high quality course? How does course design contribute to overall course quality? What role does the teaching practice of the online instructor play in course quality? Can the characteristics of the students impact the quality of the course? Are large classes and small classes of equivalent quality? Lead Instructional DesignerCenter for Distributed LearningUniversity of Central Florida Dr. Bill Phillips facilitates UCF faculty as they transition into online teaching. His research interests include online copyright and fair use, instructional best practices and emerging technologies. Dr. Phillips developed the Online Course Quick Check. Susan Scott Ricci, ARNP, MSN, M.Ed. Instructor College of Nursing University of Central Florida Susan Ricci has taught online courses at UCF since 2000, and she was instrumental in launching the online course initiative of Lake-Sumter Community College (LSCC) where she retired as director of LSCC’s nursing program. Her experience as an instructor and administrator has given Ms. Ricci a well-rounded perspective on issues related to assuring quality in online courses.
