Meet Your Hosts Your hosts—Kevin Corcoran, Zach Claybaugh, Brittany Dudek, and Dr. Michael A. Mills—bring decades of combined expertise as prominent thought leaders in open educational resources (OER) within higher education. With extensive backgrounds spanning digital learning, library science, student success initiatives, and strategic leadership at state and national levels, they have collectively shaped policies, driven impactful initiatives, and advocated passionately for increased access to education. Their collaborative approach highlights their deep commitment to advancing open education practices, ensuring quality, affordability, and accessibility for learners everywhere. Kevin Corcoran Assistant Vice Provost, Center for Distributed Learning University of Central Florida Kevin Corcoran is the Assistant Vice Provost of the Center for Distributed Learning. Kevin has over 25 years of experience in the development and support of strategies for the effective use of digital learning tools and content that focuses on quality standards and practices, student engagement, accessibility and affordability. Kevin has supported system, state, and national open education efforts over the past decade, including chairing the statewide Connecticut OER Coordinating Council and the DOERS3 collaborative. Orlando, FL Zach Claybaugh Assistant Librarian, Access & Reference Services Dominican University Zach Claybaugh is the Access and Reference Services librarian at Rebecca Crown Library. In this position, he leads the Access and Reference Services unit in providing top-notch service to the Dominican University (DU) community in the areas of circulation, interlibrary loan, and reference and research assistance. His other focus at DU is on advancing knowledge and use of open educational resources (OER), as well as working with his colleagues on information literacy initiatives across campus. Previously, he worked as the Student Success and Open Education librarian at UConn, the OER & Digital Learning Librarian at Sacred Heart University, a middle school teacher in Albania and Florida, and an ESL instructor in Minnesota and Illinois. Zach has a bachelor’s in history from West Texas A&M University and master’s degrees in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies and library and information science from the University of Illinois. River Forest, IL Brittany Dudek Director of Library and OER Services Colorado Community College System Brittany Dudek is the Director of Library and OER Services at the Colorado Community College System (CCCS), where she provides strategic leadership and coordination for the expansion of library services and OER initiatives across the system’s colleges and Colorado Online@. Brittany works collaboratively to ensure high-quality, accessible resources for learners, and oversees critical OER tools such as the CCCS Learning Object Repository and Pressbooks. Brittany leads the administration and execution of OER and zero-textbook-cost projects, including grant-funded initiatives, with a focus on equity and impact. Denver, CO Michael A. Mills Associate Senior Vice President of Equitable Access and Student Success Montgomery College Dr. Michael Mills leads Montgomery College programs and initiatives aimed at providing students with the academic support tools they need to be successful, regardless whether that course is taken in a virtual format or on-campus. In his role as the Associate Senior Vice President of Equitable Access and Student Success, Dr. Mills focuses on ensuring academic support is aligned with student success. He also focuses on equitable access through MC Online, the College’s virtual campus, ensuring that students who want to continue their educational journey through online and remote classes are able to do so with the same level of academic support as on-campus students. Dr. Mills also has oversight of the College’s open educational resource initiative MC Open, which emphasizes reducing the cost of education through the use of free digital materials.
