In Spring 2016, I had the opportunity to lead the redesign of college algebra (MAC 1105C), a General Education Program course, and soon after intermediate algebra (MAT 1033C). I implemented a version of Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL) that depends on the use of an adaptive learning system, Learning Management System, and Personalized Student Instruction (PSI).

Webcourses@UCF Personalized Learning, or adaptive learning, uses a software application called Realizeit. This software allows students to progress at his or her own pace through a learning path that is created and adapted for each student throughout the course progression.

The PAL instructional designers facilitate the design and development of adaptive courses through a combination of face-to-face consultations, just-in-time training, and ongoing professional development.

Zoom Essentials is a self-enroll course intended for experienced online faculty who have already completed IDL6543 or TLC or have completed ADL5000 and have taught for at least three different semesters online. It is a self-paced experience for faculty who want to migrate or build face-to-face/blended course elements of classroom instruction for synchronous remote delivery using Zoom. The time commitment for completion is 2-4 hours.
