UCF Here Student Guide

What is UCF Here?

UCF Here is an attendance system developed by the Division of Digital Learning, and consists of an iPhone and Android mobile app for students and Webcourses@UCF integration for faculty. Students can use their smartphone to check into a class, and faculty can manage and take attendance directly through their online course(s). Watch the following video to see UCF Here in action.

NOTE: UCF Here does not work on tablets or laptop computers.


Setup and log into the UCF Here Mobile App

  1. Download and open the UCF Here app on your smartphone.
  2. Allow permissions for UCF Here to access your camera. This will only be used to scan QR codes inside the app.
  1. Tap SIGN IN.
  1. Allow UCF Here to use ucf.edu to sign in.
  1. Log in with your NID and NID Password.
  2. After logging in, Authorize UCF Here Mobile to access your account.

Using UCF Here

After logging in to UCF Here you can access the following features.

Check-in to a Class

  1. Tap on the Check In tab on the bottom menu to access the camera.
  1. Hold up the camera to the projector screen in the classroom and scan 2 consecutive QR codes or until the app gives a confirmation of attendance.
  1. If the app doesn’t confirm you as present, you can try the following:
    1. Move closer to the projector screen.
    2. Pinch to Zoom into the projector screen.
    3. Change the camera angle to make it straight-on instead of to the left or right of the projector.
    4. Check the internet connection on your the smartphone. If the smartphone cannot connect to the internet, UCF Here won’t check for attendance.
  2. Report any issues to your instructor and they can mark you present manually.

Check History

  1. Tap on the History tab on the bottom menu.
  2. Tap on a course.
  3. Tap on an attendance session to view more details.

Report an Issue

  1. Tap on the Profile tab on the bottom menu.
  2. Tap Report Issue.
  3. Describe an issue and Send Report.

Known Issues

Android

The app is unresponsive or doesn’t work on launch.

  1. Long press on the UCF Here icon.
  2. Tap on App Info.
  3. Tap on force stop.
    • If prompted, tap Ok.
  4. Tap on Storage.
  5. Tap on Clear Cache and Clear Storage.
  6. Open UCF Here again.
