UCF Here is an attendance system developed by the Division of Digital Learning, and consists of an iPhone and web-based mobile app for students and Webcourses@UCF integration for faculty. Students can use their smartphone to check into a class, and faculty can manage and take attendance directly through their online course(s). Watch the following video to see UCF Here in action.
NOTE: UCF Here is currently not supported for combine courses.
Log into Webcourses@UCF.
Access your course.
Click on Faculty Tools in the left-side course navigation menu.
Find UCF Here and then click Launch to activate the tool.
NOTE: If this is the first time accessing UCF Here, you will be asked to authorize the tool. Click Authorize.
Next, you will create your attendance assignment to sync grades back to the gradebook. Enter the total points for all attendance sessions, then click create (You can change the points later). NOTE: UCF Here only supports one assignment for grades, so you will only need to do this once.
Add UCF Here to your Course Menu for Easy Access
Log into Webcourses@UCF.
Access your course.
Click on Settings in the left-side course navigation menu.
Access course menu options under the Navigation tab.
Find the menu item labeled UCF Here and click on the three verticle dots then select Enable.
Take Attendance
Log into Webcourses.
Access your course.
Access UCF Here from the course menu under Faculty Tools by clicking the Launch button under UCF Here.
Click the New Session button to start an attendance session.
Select the sections to be used for attendance and click Start Session to launch the QR Code session. NOTE: sessions can run for up to 60 minutes.
When done taking attendance, click End Session to stop taking attendance.
The attendance screen is now available with a list of all students and their attendance status.
On the attendance screen, an instructor can adjust attendance manually
NOTE: All attendance is synced with the gradebook as changes are made.

Log into Webcourses.
Access your course.
Access UCF Here from the course menu under Faculty Tools by clicking the Launch button under UCF Here.
Click Student Roster (click to reveal)
Find a student in the roster and click the appropriate attendance status.
Access and adjust attendance for previous sessions
Same Day
To access a previous attendance session on the same day, click on the Session time drop-down above the Student Roster and select a previous session time.

Find a student in the roster and tap the appropriate attendance status.
Previous Day
To access a previous attendance session on another day, click the Date calendar. Dates with a previous session with be highlighted in green.
If there is more than one session on a previous day, click on the Session time drop-down above the Student Roster and select a previous session time.
Click Student Roster (click to reveal).
Find a student in the roster and tap the appropriate attendance status.

Log into Webcourses.
Access your course.
Access UCF Here from the course menu under Faculty Tools by clicking the Launch button under UCF Here.
Click Current Statistics under the Student Roster.
Change UCF Here Grading Mode and Tardy Grade Percentage
Log into Webcourses.
Access your course.
From the course menu on the left, click on UCF Here.
Click the menu in the top right corner and select Settings.
Change Grade Percentage for a Tardy
Use the slider under the Grade for a Tardy section to adjust the percentage of credit for a tardy.
Change Grading Mode
Under the Grading Mode section, click on the appropriate grading mode.
Individual: Each attendance session is graded equally.
Daily Average: If attendance is taken more than once in any given day, this setting assigns a student the average of all sessions.
Once Daily: A student will need to be present only once within a day to receive full credit for attendance.
Change Total Points for Attendance Assignment
Access the attendance assignment in the Assignment section of the course.
Click on Edit.
Change the number of points for the assignment.
Click Save.
From the course menu on the left, click on UCF Here.
After accessing the UCF Here section of the course, the attendance assignment is automatically adjusted to reflect the proper points.
UCF Here for Online Only Courses
Even though UCF Here is designed to be used in a face to face environment, faculty can still manually take attendance with completely online courses, which is useful for synchronous online tools such as the Webcourses conference feature, Zoom, or Skype where student attendance can be documented.
From the UCF Here main screen, start a new session by clicking New Session.
Since students won’t be available to scan the QR codes, click End Session. This will take you back to the main screen.
Click to expand the roster. All the students will be absent.
