New UCF Policy regarding Required Elements of the Course Syllabus Coming
UCF Policy 4-403.1 along with the State's mandate for GEP Core Classes, requires all faculty members to provide a Syllabus in Webcourses@UCF each semester. This policy was put in place to “provide a consistent approach for presenting essential information that supports learning and ensures that UCF is in compliance with the standards set forth by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and other accrediting bodies.”
The Syllabus Feature shows students your course’s Syllabus description from your Webcourses@UCF course section. Once enable the your Syllabus will be viewable to all who click on the "Syllabus" link for your class in the myUCF Class Search. This link will allow them to view your course’s Syllabus description.
Syllabus Tool Required
The Syllabus Feature does not import the syllabus from a user-created Page or file in Webcourses@UCF. Only the content listed in the actual Syllabus tool will work with the Syllabus Feature. However, you do not need to make the Syllabus Tool visible to students in your course if you prefer to use a Page to display your Syllabus to students once they are enrolled.
No Links or Images Will Be Included in the Preview
The Syllabus Feature will not include any links or images that are in your Syllabus Description including PDFs or Word documents.
*Please note that courses do not need to be published to enable the Syllabus Feature feature.
