VitalSource Helps

VitalSource Helps is a program designed to support students and instructors who may have lost access to course materials due to a campus moving to distance learning to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This program is made possible by the leading publishers and resellers in US higher education. The program offers free access to an expansive catalog of ebooks through May 25, 2020, to students and instructors at impacted 2 and 4-year non-profit institutions in the US.

  1. Go to bookshelf.vitalsource.com.
  2. If you have an existing Bookshelf account, enter your email and password and click Sign In. You will have a new link in the upper left corner of the page called Explore. Click Explore to search for e-texts.
  3. If you do not have a Bookshelf account, click on Create a VitalSource Account.
    1. Sign up with your ucf.edu email.
    2. Check your email and click on the verification link to activate your account.
    3. You will have a new link in the upper left corner of the page called Explore. Click Explore to search for e-texts.

Cengage Unlimited

Cengage Unlimited grants access to online textbooks, study and test prep, and more! UCF students are eligible for a free account during COVID-19.

  1. Go to login.cengage.com.
  2. If you have a Cengage account, log in with your username and password.
    • You may have a Cengage account if you have taken courses through MindTap, WebAssign, SAM, CNOWv2, or OWLv2.
  3. If you do not have a Cengage account, click Create an Account > Student and register with your UCF email.
  4. After logging in, click Start Trial in the sidebar.
  5. Click Explore Cengage Unlimited to start your access. You will have access for the next fourteen days.

Trial Extends Through COVID-19 Impact

At the end of your fourteen-day trial, click Start Trial again to regain access for an additional fourteen days.

SmarThinking

Smarthinking offers on-demand tutoring services and resources to students. Online learning assistance is available from tutors in mathematics, computer & technology, business, science, Spanish, and writing for all subjects. Your instructor may have added a Smarthinking link in your course. To access Smarthinking, click Modules and locate the Smarthinking link in a module.

If you don’t see a SmarThinking link under Modules, your instructor may not have enabled it. Contact your instructor for more information.
