Dr. Shelly Wyatt joined the Center for Distributed Learning at UCF as a full-time instructional designer in November 2016. Before joining CDL, she spent more than 15 years teaching courses in the humanities at several colleges, including DeVry University, Valencia College, and Seminole State College. In addition, Shelly worked at Rollins College (Olin Library) and at the American Psychological Association (book publishing division).

Shelly earned a bachelor’s degree in humanities from New College of Florida in 1991 and, four years later, a master’s of liberal studies degree from Rollins College. In 2013, Shelly received her PhD in Education (Instructional System Design) from UCF. Her research interests include social media and online learning, second language acquisition and immersion through technology, and mobile learning.

A passionate traveler, Shelly studied in Ireland as an undergraduate student and served as a study abroad faculty at DeVry University, teaching in both France and Germany. Growing up, she divided her time between the US and Newfoundland and enjoys spending summer vacations in Canada with her large extended family.
